SRS’s Answer To A High Temperature Engineering Challenge

Creative engineering efforts result in designing a lower cost solution for improving industrial powder processing.

With hot gas reaching temperatures of 500 degrees Fahrenheit, SRS engineers were faced with the challenge of improving existing rotary union technology, critical for blending and drying equipment.

SRS’s engineering team developed a solution that incorporated specialized noncombustible, high temperature insulation into the design providing a protective barrier between the rotating shaft and housing.

The integrated insulation design feature eliminated the need for special high temperature seals which contributed to the high costs of the existing rotary union.

“We love challenges where we can use new creative ideas and past application experiences to reduce the design complexity and ultimately the costs for our customers,” said SRS General Manager Crystal Wiech.

The final custom engineered rotary union solution utilized SRS’s proven sealing configurations and materials meeting the customer’s direct replacement requirements.
